Che
2008

The iconic image of Che Guevara recreated with chopped meat. A collaboration with Asmus Lauridsen.

The idea was to play with this pop cultural icon by giving it a new and unsuspected context. The image is often seen on t-shirts and flags used to symbolize rebellion without any regards to its historic context. It has become a wake statement like the “I love New York" shirt and the smiley. We wanted to question this use of the image by presenting it in a new and provocative way. We think that recreating Che in meat is as lame and out of context as most of the shirts and banners presenting it.

Of course we also have to admit that playing with chopped meat was great fun. We could not resist the idea of handling raw meat in a worm photo studio with lots of heat emitting light equipment.
